Tool 01 · Saving plan

Make room for your next tax payment.

Use the payment figure and deadline supplied by SBX or HMRC. This planner works out a saving schedule; it does not calculate your tax bill.

One payment, one pot. Make separate plans for your company’s tax and your personal tax. If January includes a balancing payment and a payment on account, use the total for that date, not just the annual tax figure.
1 / Identify the payment
Check an old estimate with SBX.
Use the full scheduled amount before subtracting the payments entered below.
Unspent money set aside. Do not include money already paid.
2 / Choose your saving dates
Enter the confirmed deadline; it is not inferred here.
Today or later. Saving dates must be before the deadline.
Month-end dates are adjusted to the last day where needed.
Optional: test whether your preferred amount is enough.

Your figures are processed in this page. They are not saved by the tool or sent to SBX. Copy or download only when ready.

Your result will appear here.

Enter your own figures, or load the completed example. Nothing is sent to SBX.

What this planner does and does not do

It divides the remaining saving gap between the available dates, using whole pennies. Dates on the payment deadline are excluded to leave a day’s buffer. It does not allow for bank processing times, investment returns, interest, penalties, other liabilities or changing estimates. Confirm payment arrangements separately.

“Already paid” is not the same as “still reserved”. A result showing an excess is not confirmation of an HMRC refund. An estimated figure remains estimated after using this tool.

For payments on account, read HMRC’s explanation ↗ and the SBX first-tax-bill guide.
